The Road to All In Has Begun! Ospreay Paves His Way To The AEW World Title Shot! MJF's Victory Paints A Target On His Back!
Hola, my lucha fans! Welcome to Lucha Corner, where I bring you mucho wrestling! Today we're going to talk about what we saw in last night's AEW Dynamite/Collision show, which follows after the events of the PPV known as Double or Nothing!
So let's get started!
The show opens with an interesting backstage segment where Will Ospreay bumped into Kenny Omega, and let me tell you that the way they started the show can implicate some important things we're gonna expect this Summer, but for now I'll keep quiet about it. Anyway, Kenny warned Ospreay about him trusting with the Death Riders and to be very much careful around them. Of course, Jon Moxley was in the same room and heard the conversation before implying and quote "everyone has skeletons"
Like I said, it was an interesting way to start the show with an ambiguous segment that could definitely gonna lead to something big for AEW Redemption where it's taking place in Montreal, Canada. But that remains to be seen.
Next thing was Kevin Knight coming out as the crowd jeered at him for his actions he did on Darby Allin back at Double or Nothing. And he made clear about something, he asked Darby Allin not letting him down and the fans, but in the end, Darby lost the match. Therefore, for Kevin Knight, Darby did let everyone down.
He also claimed that he deserved to be in the main event because he defeated MJF when he defended his TNT title match (even though he won using the same dirty tactics MJF would do).
But someone had to say something about it, and that's why Mike Bailey came out to confront his best friend, calling him out that he also made mistakes just like everyone else, and what he did to Darby was the biggest one. He demanded to make an apology and be responsible, but of course, Kevin Knight refused to do so as tensions between them rises.
We're definitely gonna see them facing each other at some point, but I'm still wondering if Mike Bailey will consider follow Kevin Knight even to become something he despises...
Singles Match: Chris Jericho vs Ricochet
So the opening match was a single match with Chris Jericho facing Ricochet once more even after they had an insane Stadium Stampede these past Sunday. I honestly thought that it was gonna conclude their feud, but I was convinced that this was definitely it.
The match was not that great, but it was still good and Jericho still had good condition despite the age. The match also had best spots, such as Jericho doing the Death Valley Driver on the apron and Ricochet performing the Springboard Phoenix Splash.
Jericho eventually beat Ricochet, but just as he was celebrating with the fans, Tommaso Ciampa suddenly jumped in and mercilessly attacked Jericho. A feud was concluded, only to start a new one. I'm actually very curious how this could play out. Ciampa can make anything good with his heel role, and maybe this rivalry is gonna escalate into something more extreme.
Superstation Showcase 4-Way Match: Orange Cassidy vs Brian Cage vs Lio Rush vs RUSH.
First of all, I noticed that Brian Cage seems to be struggling to do some high flying moves when he tried to do the Tijeras on Rush. I know the fact he's been away from the ring for a long while, but at some point he might need to change his style. Even so, I hope he will get better little by little since I really enjoyed his style before he got injured.
Nevertheless, the match was BUENISIMO! Not only this match featured more than two wrestlers, we also got Lio Rush who's now getting more support from the fans with his new spooky gimmick, but also we got to see Rush facing some real challengers after he's been doing squashes only in the past few weeks.
Of course, we expected that RUSH would have a shot for the title this week, but it made more sense that he would get an important win in this match to earn the chance for the title. And he's not the only one who's aiming for the title, since we saw Andrade delivering a backstage promo where he promised to MJF he has his sight at him!

Oh, but I almost forgot one important detail. JAKE DOYLE MAKES A SHOCKING RETURN!
Yeah, I was completely stunned when I almost couldn't recognize him as he was attacking Orange Cassidy until Excalibur said who was it. It's because when I read that he torn his bicep, I read that it would take to half a year to recover from that, so I actually thought we wouldn't see him until All In season. But nope, he's back again and he's ready to destroy someone who's on his path!
So after the commercial break, Renee interviewed the Brawling Birds where Alex Windsor claimed that she's going to follow Will Ospreay to Wembley since they both are from the same homeland, and warned the Wild Card opponent to be ready. There's so much speculation of who'd be the Wild Card, some say it will be Mercedes or Ruby Soho, me, I'm really hoping it's Riho.
Back to the show, MJF comes out to boast his milestone as three-time world champion, but his celebration was interrupted when Mark Briscoe comes out and challenged him for the title shot because the last time they faced, Mark pinned him. That was kind of a surprise moment for me because while I expected MJF would have a new challengers, I didn't expect Mark Briscoe would be one of them. Then again, we're talking about one of the greatest tag team wrestlers of all time that are The Briscoes, and we've seen him becoming the fan favorite of the promotion and him stepping up to the main card is actually something that many fans, including me, would love to see.
Of course, MJF refused to accept the challenge and was about to leave, only to be confronted by RUSH! El Toro Blanco called MJF out for trying to run away from a challenge and even roasted him by saying that even though Mark Briscoe is a chicken farmer, MJF is the chicken. As the crowd started to chant his name, he also demanded a title shot.
This time MJF granted him because he found him more "marketable" than Briscoe, but that it will be for the next week. And before leaving, he delivered one of the sickest lines I ever heard.
"You best come prepared. Because the Bull is about to lock horns with the Devil."
Who knows what's gonna happen next week in the match and how it's gonna lead to the build for Forbidden Door, but what's very clear is that the main title scenario has been keeping at great pace with more potential challengers daring MJF to defend his title.
Owen Hart Tournament Quarterfinals Match: Claudio Castagnoli vs Brody King.
Excelente pelea! An excellent match between two heavy-hitters that the crowd was so into it. Sure, this match wasn't anything as big as anyone would expected, but watching two big guys hitting each other over and over is still entertaining. Also it's good Claudio was getting a singles match and he also had an incredible run as the CMLL Heavyweight champion! It would be nice to see him winning more Gold, maybe as a NJPW Never Openweight champion.
But back on the subject, not only Brody advanced to the semifinals, he also gets to face Swerve Strickland to avenge Bandido after what happened at Double or Nothing. It's gonna be another banger for sure and I can't wait for it!
Next we got another segment, this time with Copeland and Christian to celebrate their new reign as Tag Team Champions by bringing back the 5 Second Pose. We saw a funny bit where Edge bought some old cameras and gave them to the crowd so they can snap pictures to them doing the pose like the good times.
Before they had the chance to do that, The Dogs ambushed them and beat them up, while forcing the cameraman to take a picture with them doing the mock-up version of the 5 second pose. I was expecting the Young Bucks would come out to demand a challenge to be honest, but The Dogs are definitely the best option as a heel tag team to be the first challengers.
The Dogs have been more consistent since their debut, and while Gabe Kidd is still recovering from his injury, it didn't affect the appeal from this team thankfully. However, it does seem like sooner or later the Young Bucks might get involved in this too since they have a feud with The Dogs, so it would be interesting if this would lead to a tag team match for the tag team title shot.
TayJay In Action.
After that, we get to see TayJay's return in action as a tag team by facing a local tag team. I'm actually happy to see Tay Melo and Anna Jay again since they had also a good appeal as a tag team. Not only that, it seems that they're in a very good shape that they performed very well in this match, even though it was just briefly. I mean, that finishing move was so good.
And the best part is that they're having an eliminator match this Saturday on Collision, and when I said it's the best part, it means that this time the match will lead with TayJay earning the shots. At least that's what I think it will, but we have yet to see this weekend.
Owen Hart Tournament Quarterfinals Match: Mark Davis vs Jungle Jack Perry
So for Dynamite main event, we got Mark Davis vs Jungle Jack Perry for the pass to the semifinals of the Owen Hart Tournament! I was happy that Mark Davis was getting a spot for the tournament because after the time he's been sidelined for so long because of an injury, he really deserved to be part of a tournament. Jungle Jack Perry is not an exception as he's been so consistent ever since his big return a year ago and you can see there's still fire in him.
The match was what I expected. Caliente! Eh, get that reference? Anyway, what I really enjoyed this match is that Mark Davis kept showcasing his fierce character as a brute who wouldn't go down so easily, especially in an important match such as this.
Him being the new National Champion was the best thing I ever seen because you can see how hard he's working to earn that spot. And the best part is that with the return of Jake Doyle, we're about to see them going back as a tag team and them going back to dominate the division is gonna be the best thing we're expecting this Summer!
The match ended with an amazing spot where Mark Davis delivered a top rope Piledriver that knocked Jack Perry out, not exactly what happened, but I just like to interpret how I saw. And with that, not only he advanced to the next round, he will also get to face Will Ospreay in a big rematch. If I remember correctly, the last time he and Ospreay faced each other, Davis delivered a vicious piledriver on the apron that the referee had to stop the match on his favor.
But now that Ospreay is better than ever after training with the Death Riders, I know this match is gonna be different and I can't wait to see it!
So not long after this match concluded, Collision started!
While Don Callis and his family celebrated Mark Davis victory, he introduced Kyle Fletcher's return so he could explain his actions on his former best friend Takeshita. Kyle even gained so much hate from the fans because of that, but it escalated when he made the outrageous remark that Konosuke Takeshita only cared about himself and not for his family.
I swear, I even heard a fan screaming "WHAT?!" After what Kyle said, and I love how some fans are legitimately pissed.
Having enough of the nonsense, Konosuke Takeshita came out to confront the Don Callis' Family, but he didn't came alone, as The Conglomeration tagged along with him! I was wondering if Takeshita would get some help, and him with The Conglomeration is actually a really good team-up that at some point I wonder if some of his allies from NJPW will also conglomerate! I mean, Master Wato, Tiger Mask, Shota Umino, YOH. I bet we're gonna see them for this year's Forbidden Door!
As The Don Callis Family retired, Konosuke Takeshita shared some words to Fletcher by telling him that he wants to defend his International Title against him. Not only his new reign as the International Champion got off to a very good start, we're also gonna see another important feud between them, though at this moment we don't know if they're gonna have a match at Forbidden Door, but personally I'd love to see Takeshita defending his title against someone for NJPW, like Hirooki Goto or Shingo Takagi.
Trios Match: The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Will Ospreay, PAC) vs The Rascalz
Another fun match with all the talent involved. PAC also returned to the Death Riders, though he's still doesn't like Ospreay as we saw them backstage before their entrance. Nevertheless, it was very refreshing to see Ospreay and PAC wrestling together, let alone Ospreay using the same Death Rider's tacticts that could lead something along the line.
The Rascalz also were amazing too, especially Myron Reed who keeps showing his amazing talent that at some point we're bound to see him having an important singles run!
After the commercial break, we saw Lexy Nair trying to get an interview with TayJay, only to bump into the Divine Dominion who just attacked TayJay backstage, which could intesify their feud for their upcoming match this Sunday.
Singles Match: Ace Austin vs Andrade El Idolo
For the first time, Andrade and Ace Austin faced each other in the ring. One thing I really love about AEW is that we get to see some matches we've never seen before and this was the case.
Once again, it's incredible to see Andrade making a huge comeback after his return to WWE, only to go back to AEW, and was almost banned from wrestling for a whole year, to make another AEW return and we're witnessing what could be the best run of his long career.
Nevertheless, this was another really fun match between two athletic wrestlers and it's still great to see Ace Austin being constantly featured on TV, it's also great to see The Bang Bang Gang back together, but we still have yet to see one more return and I hope it will come soon.
Last but not least...
LIGHTS OUT Philly Street Match: Hikaru Shida vs Kris Statlander
After what happened at Double or Nothing, we finally got to see Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida face to face in a good old-fashion hardcore match! This main event was not only great because both amazing talented women were involved, we also get to see a feud that doesn't evolve around the main title nor the TBS one. Which by the way, I was glad to hear from Excalibur that the TBS vacancy will be addressed this Saturday on Collision.
Anyway, what I really love about this match is how Shida finally embraced his heel character and Statlander is now feeling more confident about her old gimmick we fondly missed. And of course, this match was everything we would expect in an extreme rules women's match.
My most favorite part is when Shida brought a bycicle to run over Kris' Statlander, then hit her with the bicycle, and then Excalibur mentioned the Yakuza series. To hear in a wrestling show giving a shoutout to one of my most favorite videogame franchises of all time brought a smile to my face.
We also saw Kris doing the coolest kickout by jumping up to her feet. Shida hitting Kris with the light tubes, then doing the Falcon Arrow on the broken glass. Then Kris did the Night Fever on the table outside the ring
The match ended with Kris hitting Shida with her own kendo stick with some assistance with Harley, before finishing her off with another Night Fever and getting the full three count. Harley's appearance seemed out of nowhere because I thought there was gonna be another turn, but aside from that, it was still a really good main event which concluded the whole show.
CONCLUSION
This three-hour Double or Nothing fallout show was not only better than the last one and from two weeks ago, it also kept the great momentum they're getting after the PPV and I'm more than sure that they're going to take advantage of it this upcoming Summer! Also I'm very excited to check out Collision and I'm pretty sure it will be a two-hour program.
So that's everything I need to talk about what we saw this episode, and I hope you enjoyed this review. As always, if you'd like to hear more of my wrestling takes, you can follow me on Twitter. You can also follow me on Instagram if you'd like.
So without further ado, I wish you a very nice day and good luck! Hasta pronto!
